As I wrap up my four-month work term as a Hedgehog co-op, I’m feeling thankful for all that I’ve learned and am excited about my future career as an electrical engineer.
When I applied for my first co-op position back in December, I wasn’t sure what to expect. But after seeing the types of projects that Hedgehog Technologies gets involved in, I realized this was the type of company that I wanted to work with.
And the Hedgehog team did not disappoint!
I had the opportunity to contribute to many interesting projects including a wood processing facility, an amusement ride, a renewable energy project, and a wastewater treatment facility. They provided me with a well-rounded experience and allowed me to engage in projects at various stages in the life cycle, from planning, to design, to manufacturing.
Through these projects, I have been able to exercise the technical skills that I have developed through my studies at BCIT over the past three years. I learned new skills with drafting software including AutoCAD and Solidworks. I also had the opportunity to prepare and deliver several presentations and hone my technical writing skills.
I’m truly grateful to have kicked off my engineering career with the amazing team at Hedgehog Technologies. My experience this summer has energized me to complete my undergraduate studies and transition into a full-time role next year.
