Hedgehog Technologies Commits To Making A Better World Through The United Nations Global Compact

We’re pleased to announce that we have joined the United Nations Global Compact initiative — a voluntary leadership platform for the development, implementation and disclosure of responsible business practices.

Hedgehog is committing to five goals that align with our operations and stakeholders. More goals will also intersect from the nature of our projects. For the next five years, these goals will be outlined in an annual sustainability report to acknowledge the work we are doing to achieve them. 

Here is an overview of our target Sustainable Development Goals:

Gender Equality | Hedgehog acknowledges that women in STEM fields are historically underrepresented around the world. To challenge this, Hedgehog champions equality not only in the leadership of the company but in the communities that we serve. From providing thought leadership in equity, diversity, and inclusion to volunteering at hackathons, our efforts are bridging the gender gap in STEM.

Affordable & Clean Energy | Indigenous communities across Canada are striving for energy sovereignty as the possibility of transitioning to clean energy is becoming increasingly viable. Hedgehog believes in renewable energy as a method of building resilient communities. Through our partnerships and projects, Hedgehog is making clean energy achievable for remote communities.

Industry, Innovation, & Infrastructure | Hedgehog encourages innovation for every project. During the pandemic, we developed a report aggregation tool to streamline amusement ride inspections while promoting safety. Hedgehog works collaboratively with ASTM, Engineer’s Canada, and ACEC-BC to support the evolution of engineering to meet the challenges of tomorrow.

Sustainable Cities & Communities | In alignment with Metro Vancouver’s target of carbon neutrality by 2050, Hedgehog is supporting the decarbonization of our cities. Fostering a partnership with Power Pros Electrical allowed us to streamline the development of EV charging infrastructure in strata buildings. At Hedgehog, we stand by our values as community-builders.

Climate Action | Climate change is posing a threat to our planet and requires drastic action to combat. To support industry targets for decarbonization, Hedgehog weaves sustainability in every aspect of the business from projects, people, to communities. Hedgehog works closely with Indigenous communities across Canada to build renewable energy infrastructure which reduces their carbon footprint from consuming fossil fuels.
