The Board – Engineers Canada
Hedgehog Founder Michael Wrinch attended an Engineers Canada event to celebrate professional excellence in Canada. Every year, the best and brightest of Canada’s engineers come together in Ottawa, Ontario and share professional insights to better collaborate between provinces. We compiled some highlights from the event for those who missed out.

The Engineers Canada Awards recognized outstanding Canadian engineers and projects to demonstrate professional excellence. The program started in 1972 and brings forward nominees that make a difference in our communities to celebrate their achievements.
Congratulations to the deserving winners including local recipient Stephanie Quon, a 4th year electrical engineering student at the University of British Columbia. Her passion and community volunteering led to receiving the Gold Medal Student Award. Stephanie plans to use her training in electrical and biomechanical engineering to develop medical devices that save human lives.
First hybrid event

In person and virtual event.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, in-person meetings have shifted to virtual meetings. This was the first hybrid event for the organization that held both in-person and virtual options for attendees. As we move forward, these kinds of events will be more common and allow for more interaction between participants. Bilingual headphones were also provided with translations for French and English speakers.
Thank you to Engineers Canada for providing collaborative opportunities for engineering leaders across Canada. We share a common goal of continuing to promote Indigenous reconciliation and climate action. More focus on equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) will also support a more inclusive environment for engineers from all walks of life.
